First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression

I visited the office at the address mentioned above, where I was asked to complete an internship application form with my basic details. Following this, I was introduced to the entire team.

Main Tasks

The main tasks included:

1. Research and drafting work on tax laws
2. Reading case files
3. Researching relevant case laws and articles related to matters pending in court
4. Assisting in drafting written submissions, writ petitions, and more

Work Environment

The staff and associates at the firm are always willing to assist with assigned tasks, fostering a joyful and collaborative office culture. Additionally, my co-interns were among the most remarkable colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with.

The firm’s partners are approachable and consistently offer guidance, sharing their deep expertise in taxation law. They are always available to clarify doubts and help interns navigate complex assignments with confidence.

Specializing exclusively in tax-related matters, the firm offers an enriching learning experience with ample opportunities to deepen one’s understanding of taxation laws.

Good Things about the Internship

What I admired most about my internship was the unlimited scope for learning. The firm has handled a wide array of tax-related cases, many involving intricate and nuanced issues. Studying each case was an invaluable learning experience in itself.

Mahendra Gargieya Sir, the Senior Partner of the firm, personally involves interns in drafting and editing petitions, written submissions, and other important legal documents. This hands-on experience provided a unique opportunity to grasp the intricacies of each matter firsthand.

I particularly enjoyed contributing to the preparation of opinion pieces. These often required exploring uncharted research topics and creating original content, rather than simply reiterating existing literature, which was a refreshing change from previous projects I had worked on.

Additionally, I learned how to break down a factual scenario into its various components and address each aspect systematically. This process enhanced my understanding of the perspectives held by the Income Tax Department and the judiciary, and how best to address those viewpoints strategically.

The most rewarding aspect of the internship was being involved at every stage of a matter, from its inception to its completion. This comprehensive exposure offered invaluable insights into the workings of a law firm.

Interns were also occasionally assigned client-related clerical tasks and managerial responsibilities, contributing to a well-rounded understanding of the professional environment.

Bad Things about the Internship

Honestly, I didn’t find anything negative about this internship. Everything about the experience was enriching and positive.
