Relatively Lightweight Power

I have many different power bricks—a 300W Ugreen GaN charger on my desk, a 100 USB-C GaN charger on my wife’s table, and a 65W fast charger permanently in my bag. But what makes the Voltme Revo stand out among them is its weight.

You see, the faster or more powerful (i.e., higher watt output) a wall charger is, the heavier it usually is—even if it uses lightweight GaN technology. For example, my 300W GaN charger weighs 844 grams (1.86 lbs) without the cable.

That’s understandable, given that it has more than double the output of the Revo 140. On the other hand, the charger we’re reviewing weighs just 271 grams (9.56oz). Consider this: my 100W USB-C charger weighs 293 grams (10.34oz), a few grams heavier despite delivering less power.

A Bulky Cube Blocking Your Outlet

However, despite its weight, the Revo 140 is quite bulky. Its dimensions are 80 x 75 x 33 mm (or about 3.2 x 3 x 1.3 inches). This wouldn’t be a problem if the Revo 140 had a cable for plugging into the wall. But unfortunately, it plugs directly into your outlet. If you need to plug other electronics into the same outlet bank and the outlets do not have the correct orientation, then you’ll have a problem.

Furthermore, if you’re plugging into old, loose outlets (like the ones you find in old hotels), the weight of the power brick could be enough to make it fall out. It could also be an issue with power strips, especially those with individual switches around the outlets.

Even so, this form factor makes it easy to pack and place in your laptop bag or backpack, especially as its plug folds neatly into its body. It also has a little indicator light, indicating that your power bank is charging (and avoiding waking up to an empty phone).

Simultaneously Charge Three Devices Quickly

Nevertheless, if you only need this one charger to power everything you have, you can do so quickly. The Revo 140 USB-C Wall Charger can output 140 watts to recharge your devices through USB-C and USB-A ports.

The uppermost USB-C port can output a maximum of 140 watts, while the second one (between the first USB-C and the USB-A port) can deliver 100 watts. Finally, the USB-A port can output 22.5 watts at most. However, these outputs are reduced if you use the Revo 140 to recharge multiple devices simultaneously. The charger’s maximum output per port when delivering power through multiple ports is as follows:

Average Power Efficiency

One of the things most people disregard about chargers is their efficiency. So, we plugged the Revo 140 into a smart plug with a digital meter and then used a USB-C cable with an output indicator.

First, we plugged a 15-inch MacBook Air at 50% into USB-C1. The USB-C plug recorded 68 watts on our first test, while the smart plug drew 81.8 watts from the outlet. This equates to an efficiency of about 83.85%. When I tested the laptop again, the USB-C plug indicated 42 watts delivered to the computer. However, the smart plug recorded 47 watts being drawn from the outlet; an efficiency of 89.4%. So, on average, the USB-C1 plug had an efficiency of 86.63%.

I then moved the plug to USB-C2, indicating a draw of 46 watts. After checking the smart plug’s app, I recorded a draw of 51.9 watts on the app, indicating about 88.63% efficiency. These numbers are about average, as reflected in our tests on the Ugreen 300W and Ugreen Nexode RG Fast Chargers.

Finally, I used a thermal camera to check the Revo 140’s temperature while fast-charging three devices, and I recorded a maximum of 49.1 degrees C (120.4 degrees F). Although this is warm, it’s average for GaN chargers of this size.

Should You Buy the Voltme Revo 140?

The Voltme Revo 140 offers almost the same features as other popular power bricks. It can deliver power simultaneously to three devices, fast charge your laptop, and is relatively compact. However, what makes this charger stand out is its price.

You should only buy chargers from reputable brands, as unknown brands with questionable quality control, especially the cheap ones, could damage your devices. But although the Voltme Revo 140 is affordable at less than $70 on Amazon, it’s well-built, and you won’t doubt its quality. So, if you want an affordable power brick that will quickly recharge your devices, the Voltme Revo 140 is for you.
