About Project 39A

Project 39A, an integral arm of NLUD, conducts extensive research and pro bono litigation endeavors concerning India’s criminal justice landscape. Inspired by Article 39-A of the Constitution, this project employs empirical research to dissect and reimagine the nation’s legal framework. Project 39A initiates crucial dialogues and endeavors to effect transformative change.

About the Opportunity

The internship is to foster a deeper understanding of India’s criminal justice system through our immersive internship program. As an intern, you’ll engage in diverse activities, including research expeditions, litigation support, and community outreach initiatives.

Internships range from a minimum of 4 weeks to a maximum of 12 weeks

Roles and Responsibilities

Candidates will be asked to undertake tasks that may involve assisting with litigation activities, research projects or initiatives in public outreach. While the organisation shall attempt to account for the interests expressed by the interns, it reserves the right to allocate tasks as it deems fit as per its requirements.

All members of Project 39A undertake administrative duties and therefore interns will also be expected to assist in administrative matters. Interns will be required to observe the working hours of Project 39A and work from its offices only.

Eligibility Criteria

Open to students across various disciplines, including law, humanities, social sciences, management, and media and communications. While all applicants are welcome, preference will be given to those enrolled in the specified programs.

Stipend

Rs. 10,000 for full-time interns and Rs 5,000 for part-time interns, per four weeks of engagement.
