About The College

Chaudhary Mahadeo Prasad Degree College was established in the year 1950 with a vision to contribute to the national development by providing quality education. It was founded with the financial help of one lakh rupees from Chaudhary Babu Mahadeo Prasad and thirty-five thousand rupees from Thakurani Bhagwati Devi, the daughter of Ch. Mahadeo Prasad.

The college is under the governance of Kayastha Pathshala trust which is Asia’s biggest trust. The college started with B.Sc. course in 1950 in the building of K.P. Intermediate College. The college was shifted to its present location at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, George Town,Prayagraj in 1953 in theAgra Zamindar Association’s Building. In 1955, the Faculty of Arts was started in the college.

The first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated the college hostel in 1957 known as Sampoornand Hostel. The college is a co-educational institute and it has been associated with the University of Allahabad since its establishment and it became Constituent of the University of Allahabad in 2005 when the central status of the University was restored.

About Law Faculty

The Law department of CMP Degree College was established in 1972. Initially housed in the Old Zamindar Association building, the faculty eventually moved to a separate independent campus at 12/4, Kamla Nehru Road in January 1990.

The Law Department aims to impart quality legal education to nourish young minds with knowledge of the law, teach them the nuances of the legal profession, and equip them for the practical aspects of the profession. The college believes in a continuous and active learning process.

Legal education is not just about mastering the subject or the various provisions of the law. Studying law at CMP Department of Law is a unique experience as it offers a blend of the best features of quality education

About The Seminar

The central focus of the seminar is to brainstorm and propose potential reform measures to address the identified challenges in the criminal law. This includes issues related to enforcement, procedural bottlenecks, and areas where the law may not adequately address contemporary socio-legal concerns.

The seminar will serve as a knowledge sharing platform, where participants will engage in collaborative efforts to outline pragmatic solutions that can contribute to the evolution of the legal landscape with respect to criminal law in India. This seminar aims to contribute to a wider understanding of Bhartiya Nyaya Samhita Code,2023

Objectives

The primary goal of the seminar is to facilitate a comprehensive and insightful discussion on the newly introduced Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 by bringing together legal scholars, practitioners and stakeholders at one platform.

We aim to foster a nuanced understanding of the existing legal framework, identify challenges, and explore potential avenues for reform. Through focussed discussion and deliberations the seminar aim to identify key challenges and shortcoming in the current Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita,2023 as compared to the Indian Penal Code,1860

Note

  • Paper should be original work of the author and must not be published elsewhere.
  • Journal of Indian Law Institute (JILI) mode of citation must be adopted in the paper and the length of the paper should be around 4000 words. Paper should be sent on this mail [email protected]
  • English Font should be 12 in the style of Times New Roman and for Hindi font should be 14 in the style of Mangal with 1.5 line spacing.
  • It is also proposed that the selected papers by the Committee will be published as chapter in book published with ISBN No. by National Law Publications.
  • Publication will depend upon the availability of minimum 50 selected papers with submission of an extra payment of Rs. 1000/- for the said purpose.
