Pokemon Go: How To Evolve Poipole Into Naganadel

Pokemon Go’s Season of Wonders is wrapping up soon, but not before a few more Ultra Beasts make their long-awaited debut. Three more mysterious Pokemon are set to arrive in the game as part of the upcoming Ultra Space Wonders event, including Poipole’s evolved form Naganadel.

As is the case with many other Pokemon in Pokemon Go, the method of evolving Poipole is a little different here than in the mainline Pokemon games, so here’s a full rundown on how to evolve Poipole into Naganadel.

Now Playing: The Complicated Business of Pokémon

How To Get Poipole

Unlike most other Ultra Beasts in Pokemon Go, Poipole is only obtainable through the World of Wonders Special Research story. Complete the first step of the questline and you’ll earn a chance to catch Poipole. You have until June 1 to claim the World of Wonders Special Research.

If you’ve purchased a Wonder Ticket, you can also add a second Poipole to your collection by completing the third and final set of Timed Research tasks. Wonder Tickets are available through the in-game item shop until June 1 for $10 USD.

How To Evolve Poipole Into Naganadel

Poipole’s evolved form, Naganadel, officially debuts in Pokemon Go on May 23, during the Ultra Space Wonders event. To obtain Naganadel, set Poipole as your buddy Pokemon and catch 20 dragon-type Pokemon. Once you’ve met that condition, you can evolve Poipole using 200 Poipole Candy.

Ultra Space Wonders Event

As mentioned, Naganadel will debut as part of Pokemon Go’s Ultra Space Wonders event, which runs until May 28. In addition to Naganadel, the Ultra Beasts Stakataka and Blacephalon are also debuting during the event. The former will appear in five-star raids in the Eastern Hemisphere, while the latter will only be available in the Western Hemisphere.

On top of that, players will earn double the usual amount of XP for winning Ultra Beast Raid Battles, and the final part of this season’s Special Research story will go live, giving you a chance to earn additional rewards including more Poipole Candy. Shiny Mareanie will also be available for the first time. You’ll have a chance of encountering one in the wild along with the following Pokemon:

  • Ekans
  • Zubat
  • Tentacool
  • Koffing
  • Stunky
  • Croagunk
  • Trubbish
  • Skrelp
  • Dratini

Pokemon Go has a few other events lined up before its Season of Wonders concludes on June 1. The Catching Wonders event kicks off, today, May 14, and gives players another chance to earn a rare Master Ball, with May’s Bounsweet Community Day following on May 19. The legendary Pokemon Necrozma is also set to debut soon as part of Pokemon Go Fest 2024.
