Destiny 2: Season Of The Wish Guides, Season Pass Gear, Exotics

Destiny 2’s final season is now live, bringing the Lightfall saga to an end ahead of the release of the now-delayed The Final Shape expansion. Unlike most of the other seasons released over the years, Season of the Wish will be the longest one to date as it’ll conclude in June 2024. Season of the Wish will focus on one of Destiny 2’s strangest narrative threads, the powerful wish-granting dragons called Ahamkara that were long thought to be extinct before 2018’s Forsaken expansion revealed that one was still alive and was hidden in the Dreaming City.

Season 23 will introduce a number of technical changes as well, along with more Exotic armor and Exotic weapon overhauls, and ability changes. As usual, you’ll be able to progress through the season pass and earn some great rewards, like a new version of the Exotic rocket launcher Dragon’s Breath.

Season of the Wish guides

What secrets will there be to uncover in Season 23? Last season saw a big focus on deckbuilding, and we’re anticipating that Bungie has a few new ideas to experiment with this season. We’ll be updating this section with a list of guides, so check back often as we explore the secrets of Season of the Wish.

Season of the Wish storyline

Last words, last wish.

Be careful what you wish for, because a reality-warping dragon might twist your words and give you more than what you bargained for. That’s the general warning when dealing with Ahamkara, paracausal beings that have a habit of picking up on the desires of individuals and monkey-pawing their wants into twisted forms of wish fulfillment. The return of the Ahamkara in Destiny 2 wraps up a story thread that has been around for years now and was hinted at in Forsaken’s Last Wish raid.

Following the discovery of a hidden Ahamkara egg in the Imabaru Engine, players will use it as a bargaining chip with the wish dragon, Riven, so that a pathway into the Traveler can be created and the Witness can finally be confronted. And who knows? This could even explain how Cayde-6 makes his eventual return after being very dead for the last couple of years.

Season of the Wish seasonal activity

This season’s new matchmade activity is Riven’s Lair, a new arena full of Hive and Scorn who are looking to impede your progress. A little bit of Exotic firepower should help solve that small hurdle.

Season of the Wish seasonal challenges

Season of the Wish Exotic weapon: Dragon’s Breath

Dragon's Breath
Dragon’s Breath

A classic rocket launcher from the days of the original Destiny 2, Dragon’s Breath is back and it does a whole lot more than just make a big boom. This version of the weapon now has a design that fits in nicely with the Solar 2.0 subclass and Season 23’s seasonal artifact. It now has a fuel counter that passively increases the longer you go without firing it, and with a maximum of five stacks, the fuel tank will be emptied when fired. This transfers all of the fuel into the rocket, and these explosive warheads can embed themselves in struck targets, causing Scorch damage while leaking incendiary fuel around them, applying even more Scorch stacks to any enemies caught in these puddles.

The more fuel you use, the longer this effect will last before a detonation occurs. On top of that, there’s the intrinsic perk for Dragon’s Breath, High Octane, which instantly refills the rocket launcher with two stacks of fuel when there are nearby ignitions. A fully refueled Dragon’s Breath will reload itself automatically and its Exotic Catalyst causes Firesprites to spawn after enemies are eliminated.

The Queensfoil Censer is an interesting seasonal artifact with some potentially devastating combinations from its perks once they’ve all been unlocked. It has a focus on Solar, Strand, and Stasis subclasses, it gives anyone using a rocket launcher some nice perks, and there’s the usual assortment of anti-Champion mods available here.

Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4 Column 5
Anti-Barrier Sidearm

Flame, Fiber, and Freeze

Combines the Solar/Strand and Solar/Stasis Siphon mods into one.

Flint Striker

Rapid Solar weapons precision hits and rapid Solar weapon final blows grant Radiant.

Unravelling Orbs

Picking up an Orb of Power grants Strand weapons Unraveling Rounds.

Horde Shuttle

Damaging unraveled targets with a weapon occasionally spawns a Threadling.

Unstoppable Hand Cannon

Kindling Trigger

Radiant causes Solar weapons to apply Scorch to unscorched combatants.

While radiant, deal increased weapon damage to combatants affected by Strand and Stasis debuffs.

Pillar of Ice

Killing an encased combatant spawns Stasis crystals.

Hail The Storm

Shattering encased targets and Stasis crystals deals increased damage. Shattering a Stasis crystal releases shards of ice that damage and slow targets.

Unstoppable Bow

Blast Radius

Rapid final blows with Rocket Launchers and Grenade Launchers grant Armor Charge.

Heart of the Flame

Casting your Solar Super grants nearby allies Radiant and increases the damage of your Super for each nearby ally.

Revitalizing Blast

Causing damage with a Solar ability weakens Champions and bosses for a short duration.

Rays of Precision

While radiant, Solar precision final blows cause combatants to ignite.

Overload Auto Rifles

Origin Perk Specialization I

Improves the benefits provided by the Sundering, Nano-Munitions, and Nanotech Tracer Rocket Origin Traits. Additionally, weapons with these traits are always overcharged.

Overload Pulse Rifle

From Whence You Came

Increases ability damage to Taken and Scorn combatants.

Wished Into Being

While your Super is nearly fully charged, ability final blows spawn Orbs of Power. Wearing Season of the Wish armor decreases Super amount threshold.

Dragon’s Bite

Breaking a combatant’s shield with a Strand or Stasis weapon has a chance to suspend or freeze that combatant. Wearing Season of the Wish armor increases this chance.

Argent Ordinance

Firing a Rocket Launcher consumes one stack of Armor Charge, granting increased damage and reload speed until you reload or stow your Rocket Launcher.
